Bundesliga International and Sky Sports agree new deal for the next four seasons in the UK and Ireland

  • Sky Sports becomes new home of Bundesliga in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland until 2025
  • Bundesliga extends partnership with Sky, following long-term collaboration in Germany and Italy

Sky Sports has been named as the home of the Bundesliga, Germany’s topflight football, in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, following a new broadcast deal with Bundesliga International, a subsidiary of DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga.

Football fans will be able to enjoy Bundesliga matches for the next four seasons exclusively on Sky – including the rapidly approaching German Supercup. This year’s Supercup match is an early “Klassiker” match-up, as Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern München go head-to-head on 17 August (8:30pm CET), at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK – the match will be live on Sky Sports following the Bundesliga season-opener on Friday 13 August between Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC Bayern München (8:30pm CET) and Eintracht Frankfurt against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday 14 August (6:30pm CET).

Sky will show Bundesliga matches across Sky Sports linear channels as well as utilising a range of digital and social platforms to promote the Bundesliga. The premium fixture of each weekend will be live on Sky Sports Football at 6:30pm CET every Saturday. Bundesliga International and Sky Sports will strongly collaborate to create innovative content formats and interactive experiences, ultimately bringing the league’s best-known players closer to supporters in both the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

The partnership further cements Sky Sports’ position as the UK’s leading sports entertainment provider. The agreement also extends the trusted partnership between Sky Sports and the Bundesliga, building on long-term collaboration between Sky Deutschland in Germany (DACH region) and Sky Italia in Italy respectively.

The Bundesliga is currently home to several English players, including Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, who was a key part of the national team’s Euro 2020 campaign, as well as FC Augsburg’s Reece Oxford and FC Bayern’s new arrival Omar Richards. The Bundesliga has consistently shone in Europe, and British and Irish fans will be able to follow the league’s renowned clubs on their quest for the domestic title.

Bundesliga International CEO Robert Klein said: “This is a partnership that will deliver the best of the Bundesliga week-in, week-out, through world class production and multi-platform coverage. With Sky as our partner, Bundesliga fans will benefit from a first class football viewing experience. This, paired with the Bundesliga’s trademark attacking style of football, means that fans can expect an action-packed season – featuring some of the world’s best players and the most exciting up-and-coming talent.”

Sky Sports Managing Director Jonathan Licht said: “We’re delighted to have acquired the rights to the Bundesliga. Sky Sports customers will have the opportunity to watch some of the best players in the world as well as some of the leading teams in Europe.”

“This new four-year agreement adds to our football offering in the UK & Ireland which already includes Premier League, EFL, Scottish Premiership and FA Women’s Super League as well as international action in the form of World Cup Qualifiers, placing Sky Sports as the home of live football.”
